VDC Engineer - Laser Scanning Technician

About the Role:
VDC Engineer - Laser Scanning Technician is a hands-on position oriented toward reality capture and laser scanning expertise with career growth paths to domain expertise and project management. In this role, you lead and perform on-site laser scanning, processing, and registration. You will deepen your knowledge in one or more areas of expertise through project and research based initiatives. Our goal is your professional success and development, including presenting your research at industry events.


Reality Capture is at an inflection point. Over the last decade, the technology has become faster, smaller, lighter, cheaper, more accessible and user friendly at an unprecedented pace. This is happening across laser scanning (LIDAR), SLAM, and photogrammetry. EnTech is heavily invested in this area and stands at the forefront of research and development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct on-site 3D laser scanning operations utilizing Faro, Leica, and Navis scanners.
  • Anticipated travel is 25%.
  • Perform post-processing of scan data to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Integrate scan data into design models using industry-standard software.
  • Coordinate scan data with survey data to ensure alignment and accuracy.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and update scanning equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices during scanning activities.
  • Developing scanning work plan. 
  • Performing QA/QC
  • Familiarity with Revit modeling and/or interest in learning modeling skills. 
  • Investigate new software and technology to increase efficiency, and improve overall delivery.
  • Troubleshoot software, processes, and technical issues.
  • Complete project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Take leadership for select project tasks and/ or components.
Required Qualifications:
  • Relevant training and/or education:
    • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or AEC-related discipline. 
    • Completion of an AEC trade school or apprenticeship program.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in performing laser scanning
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software for post-processing and integrating scan data
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in scanning and data processing.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel in and around the NYC area.

Estimated Annual Compensation:
$80,000 - $100,000
