VDC Engineer II

About the Role
EnTech's VDC Engineers sit at the core of our department. VDC Engineer II is a mid-level position situated between generalists and specialists, with career growth paths to subject matter expertise or project management. You will deepen your knowledge in one or more areas of interest through project- and research-based initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct 3D trade coordination meetings and support management of trade contractor drafters.
  • Conduct interdisciplinary clash detection tests and help resolve major issues during the coordination process
  • Perform project model setup and management through the project lifecycle.
  • Push BIM and technology implementation forward on a complex megaproject.
  • Provide support for BIM services including laser scanning, 360 photo capture, CAD overlays and exports, etc
  • Lead QA/QC and manage BIM in various platforms for architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or civil disciplines using point clouds, contract drawings, shop drawings, and as-built as references to support design and construction initiatives.
  • Investigate new software and technology to reduce cost, increase efficiency, and support overall digital delivery of the project.
  • Utilize BIM to optimally generate 2D plans, elevations, sections, or detail drawings with annotations that follow specified standards.
  • Implement project-specific BIM standards, developing or augmenting standards where necessary.
  • Support project team with technology processes and technical issues.
  • Coordinate the completion of project deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Take leadership for select project tasks and/ or components
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or AEC-related discipline preferred.
  • Specific or experience in VDC/BIM practices and/or software preferred.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in architecture/ engineering/VDC. Some experience leading initiatives or teams.
Required Skills:
  • Command of the generation and development of BIM models, drawings, project management applications within Revit, BIM360, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with one or more VDC tools such as: Bentley Open Buildings, Solibri, GIS, and others.
  • Fluency in one or more additional BIM standards and VDC processes, including: reality capture, digital twins, data analysis, assistive field technologies, and others.
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to interpret design and construction documents for various disciplines. In-depth understanding of one discipline.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in construction project management, specifically MEP systems
  • Experience in Revit, Navisworks, and 4D Navisworks Simulation
  • Experience with laser scanning, processing and registration
  • Experience with Dynamo scripting and Revit API 

Location:
New York, NY

Estimated Annual Compensation:
$70,000 - $90,000
